Looks like Björk.

Everyone can agree on that Björk Guðmundsdóttir has an unique look. 1989 in Leipzieg in Germany a boy was born and named Bill Kaulitz. Today, 19 years later, Bill Kaulitz is the leader of the hottest boy band in Germany, Tokio Hotel.
Bill without a doubt listened a lot to Björk as a young boy (what! XD??), and he looks exactly like her. Tokio Hotel have been doing great recently and specially in America. The band recently won an award on the VMA that was held in Los Angeles recently.
Last years Björk has been using a lot of thick 'eyeliner' at appearances and you can basically say that Bill stole her look. Bill is hardly seen without thick eyeliner and make-up. And his eyebrows are exactly the same as Björk's. Bill is also very feminin. But that doesn't seem to get the girls off him. He and the other members talk a lot about their after concerts one night stands. Maybe some of his one night stands have thought: 'He reminds me of someone, but who?'

Buzzworthy Frequent Commenter Tokio_Charlotte's Favorite Unofficial VMA Couple

One of my very favey Buzzworthy commenters/ frequent “first”ers is tokio_charlotte, who, like me, likes Tokio Hotel, thumbdrives (I have a preposterous amount of them and just got a Little Britain one in the mail this morning. yay!), nail polish, and, most importantly, the Internet. But I also like her for reasons less selfish than the fact that we share the same impeccable taste. I also <3 tokio_charlotte because she emailed me an excellent rundown of her most favorite unofficial couples of the 2008 VMAs. And all she got was a lousy Moonman t-shirt. Thanks again, Charlotte! Take it away…

Top of the list: Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus. Sure, Travis McCoy has dibs on Katy romantically, and Miley hates (and likes) “7 Things” about someone who may or may not be Nick Jonas, but Katy and Miley take the prize for Cutest Unofficial Couple. Katy and her mysterious “Special Guest” were all smiles and “feud? what feud?” on the red carpet. Though Katy did not get a taste of Miley’s vanilla ChapStick® this time around, the fact that they both lost out to Tokio Hotel for Best New Artist can’t hurt future chances. (I wouldn’t expect more MyCy/TH Rock Band sessions anytime soon, unfortunately).

Second up is Tom Kaulitz and Nicole Scherzinger. Though this couple only exists in Tom’s dreams, Nicole’s gush about Tokio Hotel at the VMAs post-show says she’s not exactly creeped out by his crush. Don’t know if Tom’s dream of a Tokio Hotel/Pussycat Dolls tour will happen, but let’s not rule anything out.

And the third cutest couple? Maybe-Not-So-Crazy-Anymore Britney and her Moonman(s)! Girlfriend went from trainwreck “OMG did you see her” — in a bad way — to dazzling “OMG did you see her” — in the best way. Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Video of the Year, and Most Searched Person? Love it. Here’s to hoping that things continue on the up on and up, and that next year’s VMAs are going to be even better.

What Tokio Hotel Tells us About Small Markets

My daughter who is twelve believes with all her heart that she discovered the band Tokio Hotel (http://tokiohotel.pop24.de/tokiohotel2/index2_en.php) and made them famous.

To an extent, this is true.

While their story might sound like any other teen fascination, I think it has lessons for all of us. She discovered this tiny market “emo” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo) band from Germany when they appeared on a tiny spot on MTV (http://www.mtv.com/). She instantly fell into an all engrossing love affair with Bill Kaulitz, the lead singer. Still nothing new, right?

What happened next is fascinating. She began introducing the band to her brother’s 15 and 16 year old high school friends and started a movement. Twelve year old younger sisters do not co-opt high schoolers, as a general rule. She drove this band on Facebook and created a network of “friends” in more than one local high school as large as her brother’s – including many she’s never met.

Again we could chalk this up to general teen-ness and let it go, but a couple of things bear considering. First, distinctive differentiation. There are piles of teen bands out there, but this one’s lead singer is instantly recognizable. Some of their videos just show his silhouette and because of his distinctive hair [see picture] and overall look, even I recognize him.

Second, the power of social networks and small markets. This is a German band, whose work is produced in their native tongue first and only later ported to English. Though Island Records (http://www.islandrecords.com/site/home.php), their label, manages a number of big market artists like Bon Jovi, most of their promotion is Internet-only. Their fundamental appeal to teens is essentially under the radar, socially connected, and, totally “in-the-club” driven.

This all came together for me when I was watching the Denver Broncos narrowly beating the San Diego Chargers and realized that the NFL was playing their single, “Ready Set Go” to jazz up a commercial break.

You see, even this low-budget, behind the scenes, grassroots-driven stuff can make the big time.

Tokio Hotel Worry Their English Isn't 'Cool' But Plan To Translate Next LP Anyway

Fresh from their VMA win, the boys headed back to Germany to work on Scream follow-up.

Tokio Hotel
just won the Best New Artist VMA on the strength of their first English-language album, Scream, and their popularity in the U.S. continues to grow. But though they've been touring in the States and making plenty of public appearances in English all year, the four young Germans say the language barrier is still quite a challenge for them — one they plan to tackle again as they work on their next LP.

"You know it was really hard to do a set, or even to do interviews in English, because in Europe, we always had a translator with us," 19-year-old lead singer Bill Kaulitz said. "I think it's really hard for me ... to sing in English, because it's not my mother tongue. I really wanted it to sound natural [on the album], so it took some time in the studio, and we always wanted to do it this way: first in German, then translate everything into English. The English record is a part of us, and we really wanted to go ahead with that."

Bill explained the difficulties of properly translating German slang. "We translate, or we want to, everything," Kaulitz said. "Of course, our German phrases like, 'big cinema,' it's 'grosses Kino' in German. This red carpet is grosses Kino. It's like, 'beautiful,' 'awesome.' "

But TH are determined to keep on honing their linguistic skills for their follow-up LP. "First, we write German songs, and we translate some to English," guitarist Tom Kaulitz said. "We have always German records and English records. I think that's the best way."

Tom said he worries that because their grasp on the language is so unfamiliar, they come off sounding uncool, or "too grown-up."

"Our vocabulary is just school English, so we have no slang, no cool words," he lamented.

The guys aren't going to let the language barrier get them down as they head back to the studio. "After America, we directly go back to the studio in Germany, and we are still in the creative process of our next record," Bill said. "So we're writing songs, and we'll be recording some stuff. So we have a lot of work, and then we do the new record, yeah. No, we have no ideas [what we might call the album]."

"But it will be a great name and an amazing album," Tom added confidently.

Lead singer of Tokio Hotel sayd that he doesn't kiss a girl for 3 years

Berlin, 25 Sept (EFE) - Vocal and lead singer of the german band Tokio Hotel, Bill Kaulitz, is sad because he doesn't kiss a girl for three years, said him at the last german magazine "Bravo".

"This really makes me saf. I've 19 years old and I really miss that", says the teenager idol of everyone, famous for make-up, paint the nails black and have the huge hair.

The young man, who has already told that magazine that he was without a girlfriend for 2 years, admits that he has no luck since then.
Bill says that he can't keep a long relationship.

Apparently, the huge mundial success as singer - his band won the principal award of the MTV Video Music Awards to a german band - wich didn't contribute to make the situation get better and he says he feels "alone".

"I would like to have a girlfriend to share my life with", says Bill, and admits that, has Tom by his side, the brother is twin and co-creater of the band, doesn't take the melancholy that he feels.

Bill and Tom created the band Devilish, in 2001, with Gustav Schäfer and Georg Listing, but they changed the name to Tokio Hotel in 2003.

The four young man are really famous in Germany since they released thet first album, "Schrei" (=Scream), in 2005, which was imported by the international merchandize, while in the german language countries, they out their second album, "Zimmer 483" (=Room 483), which is on the best saled albuns.

Tokio Hotel, performed in June at Rock in Rio Madrid, will performe also at the MTV Latin America, which will be in October 16th at the mexican city Guadelajara.

Tokio Hotel making jump across pond

MUNICH -- Four long-haired young men from across the pond have come to the U.S. They send massive crowds of teenage girls into a frenzy in their native country, and now they're in the States playing clubs and appearing at the MTV Video Music Awards in Hollywood.

They're Tokio Hotel, from an unlikely pop birthplace -- Germany -- and when they started out, frontman Bill Kaulitz and his identical twin brother Tom, the band's guitarist, were only 13.

Now, five years later, the Kaulitz twins and their slightly older rhythm section, Georg Listing and Gustav Schaefer, have redefined the term "teen phenom." Besides selling almost 3 million CDs and DVDs, racking up 13 platinum records in German-speaking territories and packing stadiums throughout western and central Europe and Japan, they've transformed the fringe esoteric image of German pop into the new global teenybopper cool.

Girls in such countries as Poland and France are learning German in order to understand Bill Kaulitz's lyrics of teenage disaffection. And there have been worried editorials in Israeli papers about whether the country's next generation of Jewish mothers is aware of the historical implications of this current youthful passion. Tens of thousands of Israeli fans signed a petition to get Tokio Hotel to play in Tel Aviv last year, and the band obliged -- to a huge open-air crowd.

But if the Tokios can make it anywhere, can they make it in New York? The band has been to the U.S. a handful of times in the past year, the second time appearing on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" to promote the release of their first English-language album, "Scream." The Los Angeles Times described them as a "young emo-glam outfit" who sound like "the Jonas Brothers covering Guns N' Roses."

Their most recent U.S. stop was last week on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

The Tokio Hotel youngsters owe their precedent-setting success at home to "the professional and meticulous work of a team of producers and managers who maintain control over their 'product' at all times," German music journalist Olaf Tost says. "Bill Kaulitz, with his androgynous, vulnerable and yet energy-laden persona, is something of an emotional anchor in the sea of teenage angst for his fans."

One of the main members of the Tokio team, producer and co-writer David Jost, describes meeting Bill Kaulitz for the first time as a life-changing event. "I was 100% certain they were going to break the roof in Germany," he said shortly before the "Late Night" performance. "I would have bet the whole German music and media industry on this. But of course I never expected this thing to take off internationally."

The U.S. fan base was built mostly via the Tokios' YouTube channel, updated with professionally made and English-subtitled videos at least once a week. The intro to the channel declares triumphantly, "It's only a matter of time before the hysteria follows them stateside."

"A band from Germany getting big all over Europe -- with the chance of even more -- that happens every 20 years, maximum," Jost says.

Tost is a bit more skeptical.

"They may have some temporary success in the U.S. But for the long term they might not have the 'special something' -- like (German hard rockers) Rammstein does -- that makes them different from other bands," he says.

New DVD?

A girl's fanclub of Denmark has contacted Universal Denmark (through direct contact with them) and they asked about the rumors of the new album.

They have replied as follows:

In November a new DVD will be edited and which contain a combination of live performances (it is assumed that the tour will be "1000 Hotels") and a lot of backstage material and with many scenes never seen before.

And on the new album say that we can not expect anything before 2009.

So new DVD in sight and soon the new album!
However, no information is confirmed by the band, just for Universal.

RUMOUR - Bill out with his Girlfriend?

Staragora is reporting that this weekend Bill will be going out to a nightclub with his rumoured girlfriend Ilayda Gecim. The relationship has been rumoured since the Comet Awards 2007, but the article says that since Ilayda has now turned 16, they will be partying this weekend to celebrate. To read the full translated article, and a translation of the article published before it, look below the break.

Is this true? Probably not, but it is interesting.

Tokio Hotel: Bill Kaulitz in a nightclub for the birthday of his girlfriend Ilayda?

The rumour of the love story between Bill Kaulitz and Ilayda Gecim, a German teen of Turkish origin, restarts! Moving on to a love story! Denise, a fan of Tokio Hotel, has alerted us about the lovers going out to a nightclub in Berlin this weekend. The young Ilayda has celebrated her birthday in the past few days, it’s party time!

Imagine that for your next birthday Bill Kaulitz invites you to go to a nightclub with the whole group! What would you think? And your friends?

Right now, Tokio Hotel are in Berlin to record their third album in studio.

Once again we thank Denise, a faithful reader, who alerted us about the existence of this famous Ilayda. See: Bill Kaulitz and his little friend! (translation below)

Thanks to the internet, Tokio Hotel fans react quickly. Don’t hesitate on writing to us if you have some news to be published.

We welcome you to be a part of the news association “Tokio Hotel’s Verband” (Tokio Hotel’s Union), started on August 22nd by Gaelle, Noemie, Rachel, Amandie and Adeline. Good luck for them who want to develop Tokio Hotel’s community. To contact them: tokiohotelsverband@hotmail.fr

Let’s not forget that a group without news is a group that’s dying! So, it doesn’t matter if we’re mean now and then!

Bill Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel has a little friend of Turkish origin.

There’s a rumour all over the internet, and a Turkish reader of staragora who’s in love with Bill Kaulitz and Tokio Hotel told us about it: Denise, 16 years old.

According to her, Bill Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel has been going out with Ilayda Gecim. She lives in Berlin but her origins are Turkish. She’s 15 years old. The rumour started in 2007: Bill Kaulitz and Ilayda had probably met at an award event, “Comet 07”. They were seen holding hands outside a club.

According to Denise, many of girls posed as the young Ilayda at blogs or forums, mostly Teemix and Ladiz… Denise says that’s not Bill’s little friend: Ilayda can’t speak French. (…)

Checking into Tokio Hotel

A few months ago Entertainment Weekly asked, "Who the #@! Are Tokio Hotel?" The band's surprise Best New Artist win at last week's MTV Video Music Awards probably had viewers in the over-25 set scratching their heads as well.

I wasn't, since I'd been watching FNMTV, the cable net's Friday night video premiere show (created by Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz to restore the music video to its former glory). That's how I was first exposed to Tokio Hotel, a four-piece German export, sucked into its "Monsoon" video:

Seeing that clip for the first time (and a second look later), gender confusion admittedly piqued my curiosity: Was the Tokio Hotel lead male or female? Further investigation revealed that the big-haired singer is 18-year-old Bill Kaulitz (twin brother Tom plays lead guitar).

Together since 2001 and already massive overseas where they've sold nearly 3 million albums, the band issued Scream, their English-language debut, in April. Based on their reception by the current MTV generation and my fondness for "Monsoon," Tokio Hotel is riding a wave of success that is unlikely to crest soon.

And in a world where Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus usually nab the pop spotlight, these kinder are all right.

Purchase "Monsoon" via Amazon, iTunes.

The success becomes passion! (Bravo Germany)

Madness! Tokio Hotel made a hit int he MTV Video Music Awards! Now they reveal their career’s drug…

Everything, that they touch, turns into gold, patinum or an award! Tokio Hotel started in the music world in three years before. The fans can think just them since then. And now the absolute unsurpasseble (thing) is: Tokio Hotel harvested an award which for nobody expected: int he MTV Video Music Awards, int he ’Best New Artist’ category! The high point of their carreer! Their biggest success! Moreover Bill (19), Tom (19), Gustav (20) and Georg (20) too all, they bet, that didn’t succeed. Because in Hollywood, ont he VMA, they had a enormous concurrency. Megastars, like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry were nominated with them. But after all they managed to – in fact, as the first German band! „We didn’t really expected that. This is simply just incredible cool”, shouts Bill in his delight. „We will have the really first party in here now.” Since they have already been officially stars, because in Hollywood they pertain there. Under the show, our Magdeburgians even played with Miley Cyrus with the computer game, called ’Guitar Hero’, and gave interview with The Pussycat Dolls. And on the after-show-party, they had fun together with Kid Rock, Paris Hilton and her Co.
An evening, that Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg have never forgotten in their whole life. A dream, which came true.

An evening, that Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg do not stain in his whole life to forget long. A dream, which changes to truth,. Tokio Hotel does not finish it for a long time yet after all. Everything is wanted. To prepare more music. Tokio Hotel haven’t finished it yet so far. They want everything. Prepare more music. Fill even more halls. Record more CDs: „The success really becomes passion. This is our drug. We want always more,”, explains Bill. „We feel ourselves simply well because of it. Especially Tom and I, we are totally workaholics. We write songs and record them steadily or we want to go to tour again immediately. Finally, we want to live our dream.” And Tokio Hotel enjoy every second in their life. „Every new tribute is a new level for us. We often think of: What will comes so far? And after that will come the next event, our world is shattered. ”
Whether what Tokio Hotel responded first, that they are stars? „It was on the Comet Awards in 2005. It was the first time, that we were in a huge event like this. As we arrived into the hall, suddenly everybody ran into our direction.”, remembers Bill. „We just thought: What happened here? Who were here, that everybody screams? We thought, that the fans intended it for somebody else. We were totally stunned, from the fact that everything was pivoted us suddenly.”, laughs Tom. „And top of it all, even we won a prize, it whirled us totally.”

But after all yet, it haven’t came that the boys cry in their joy into their handkerchief (I’ m not sure it is correct, but it is the substance.): „As to me, the tears burnt my eyes several times.” admits Bill. „Because I have never wanted to cry publicly.” On the Europe Music Awards 2007, Bill was really near to it: „Once, our name was announced. In all over from Europe, fans voted for us. Na ya, I was really goose bumps then. Everybody from our team jumped up. I couldn’t looked them until a moment, because I couldn’t able to hold up myself.”

What is Tokio Hotel’s succes recipt? Why they win almost every prizes? Why they have so many fans? „Only just we haven’t know it”, laughs Georg. „From the beginning, we hold to important that, we want to do everything ourselves. All e-mail, all photos – everyhing have gone through our tabla. I have never want to be a puppet, who observes a schedule speechlessly.”, adds Bill. „Although this is the problem of a lot of people. But they can’t be do nothing against us.” Since the hard fight was rewarded – as we can see.

TH Trivia

[click on the photo to start the game!]

Enjoy it =)

This way will be the new Album!

Yes, it is true! Tokio Hotel are prepared to release a new original album! Look what we have found... Yupii!

We were so exticed to give you this new! After Schrei and Zimmer 483 (both with a english version), the four boys are daily working on the third album!!! And they promisse not to desilude us...

Bad things always come to an end
This proverb couldn't tell more the truth... and Tokio Hotel know that!!! You maybe remember when Bill had to stay fous weeks without speaking, after the OP to his throat... That days were really hard and they had to cancelate lots of concerts (including the Lisbon one). But was in that times that Bill started writing dauly new lyrics!!! That therm gave him lots of inspiration, it made him think so much about life and, as he couldn't speak... he wrote! It was in that pause moment that made the born of the "new baby" of Tokio Hotel!

Other inspirations!
When he came back to the stages (with the european and north american tour), Bill keep on writing... Visit new countries and meet different people also inspired him! «Bill came to talk with me a lot of times with new ideas for musics», says the manager and producer of the band, David Jost. «I think Bill's lyrics are a mix of nostalgia. He wish be at home and, at the same time, he wants always to keep on». How sweet...

Lost papercuts!
Bill is always having new ideas for lyrics and songs and he write all them imediatly in everypaper that he probably have. «Bill write lyrics in every empty space of a paper , wich he brings on his pocket. In the majority of the papers, there are a hotel logo. He is felling really bad and he has already lost some of those papers. But, unfortunatly, he isn't interessted in write the ideas on the laptop», revels David Jost. Which one of us with our method.

New Stile!
We also had discover that Tokio Hotel are thinking in change a little bit of their stile. «I want to introduce musics with new influences and surprise people», said Tom. Cool!!!

Faithfull to their origins
They will return to sing german
Tokio Hotel are super happu with the success that they have made in USA and Europe, but they want to be faithfull to their origins and they will keep singing in german. Becuase is on the mother language that Bill writes better and the fans identify theirselfs in the same way. «The fans want to be the much closer to the identity of Bill. So, they want to understand the texts in german», says the manager of the band.

WORST
TOKIO HOTEL'S BILL KAULITZ - bad hair and bad manis never looked so, well, bad. Only one music legend could pull that look off, and that was Michael Jackson circa 1985.

Miley Cyrus talks about Bill

Back in studio

"Tokio Hotel" are in the studio again. In the next weeks the third studio album of the band should be finished, said manager David Jost in an interview. Singer Bill Kaulitz explains that he especially looks forward to being able to sleep in: "I won't wake up early once in the entire phase.". Furthermore, Bill says, he hates waking up early. Therefore during the production phase, everything will go by his sleep schedule: "So we begin first in the evening and work late into the night." "Tokio Hotel" are nominated for 4 MTV Latin American Awards. The German band can win in October, for example, the award in the category "Newcomer of the Year". (FIRSTNEWS reported)

OK Germany: Is Bill suffering an eating disorder?

Bill Kaulitz - The stress is consuming him

The teenie idol is skinnier than ever. Is the Tokio Hotel singer suffering and eating disorder?

Hanging pants and hollow cheeks: In recent photos Bill Kaulitz looks unhealthily skinny that one question comes to surface: Is he anorexic? The Tokio Hotel star denies such: “Don’t worry about my eating habits.” Apparently he shovels down mounts of fast food, noodle casseroles and milk rice. But his reassurance over such back fires. Because: “It’s typical for anorexics to deny their illness.” Explains Dr. Thomas Kurscheid, a nutritional physician. “Sufferers have a warped body perception – they believe they’re too fat.” However, the 19 year old claims that he only weighs 50 kilos - too little for someone with the height of 1.77 m.

His underweight can also be from nature [Bill: “I was always so skinny!”] or a reaction to the stressful life in the limelight, the results of energy taking performances and tours. However, the expert assumes it’s a psychological problem: “Bill’s life is controlled from managers. No wonder that he at least wants to keep the control over his own weight...”

VMA 08 - Message from TH!

Tokio hotel wins a VMA and the affection of the PussyCat Dools

Not only did Tokio Hotel (or, the main reason half of you faithful Buzzworthy readers watched the VMAs last night) roll up to the VMAs in a roaring monster truck emblazoned with their likeness — Get it!? Loud? Dangerous? American? (And shouldn’t that be Lil Wayne’s motto?) — but they also won Best New Artist (or, the other reason you’re glad you watched the VMAs).

So, they rolled big in a monster truck AND won that VMA (watch their we <3 our fans acceptance speech below), but they also got all kissy-face with Pussycat Dolls, who were dressed in very floaty, feathery dresses (like game show ladies but hotter), and between Nicole and Bill Kaulitz, the air was filled with intoxicating levels of glamous eye make-up, hairspray, and raw sex appeal.

Watch their big American arrival, see them accept their VMA, and then watch them schmooze with their labelmates on the back lot.

Also, my apologies for getting your hopes up with my previous post announcing that Tokio Hotel would be presenting a VMA. In the flurry of pre-VMA madness, I received some inaccurate information. As you saw, Tokio Hotel was instead featured in the show’s Rock Band scene with Miley Cyrus (a pairing that either offended or elated you). Please accept this ridiculous photo of me in North Cackalack’s Grave Digger monster truck as an apology. Es tut mir leid!

Tokio Hotel Gets ‘Loud’ And ‘Dangerous’ In The Paramount Parking Lot

I caught up with Tokio Hotel about a half hour ago as they were leaving the Paramount lot after their VMA run through.

Check out what they told me about their Hot Topic event today, getting ready for the VMAs, getting lots of Skittles, and the mystery mobile that they’ll roll up in tomorrow night. And please forgive my stuttering and brainfarts… (thoughts + words… not working … in unison … fast… e… nough…) I was still winded from all that unforeseen Jonas exercise.)

Tokio Hotel gets a VMA upgrade!

No, don’t worry. Tom didn’t shave his head. The latest update from VMA HQ here inside the Crosby Building at the Paramount is that Tokio Hotel will be presenting an award at the 2008 VMAs! Viva la Deutschland, y’all!

Also, another little tidbit McNugget for you: Tokio Hotel is going to be pulling up to the VMA red carpet in a most outlandish set of wheels. No, not a Maybach. Think American… Very American… And it’s not the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile, though that could be the greatest image ever.

Watch the VMA pre-show at 8pm to see what your all-time favorite German band rolls up in.
